These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Formatif desktop application and this website. Formatif is operated by Hadi Karaki, an individual developer. By downloading, installing, or using the software, you agree to these Terms.
1. Merchant of Record
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
2. License
When you purchase a license for Formatif, you receive a lifetime, single-user license to use the app on a single device only. You may not resell, share, or redistribute the software or your license key.
3. Free Trial
You may use Formatif for a 3-day free trial period. After the trial period ends, the software will require a valid license key for continued use. During the trial, the app also requires internet access for license validation.
4. Payments & Taxes
Payments are securely processed by Paddle. Depending on your location, Paddle may calculate and collect sales tax or VAT on our behalf. All invoicing is handled directly by Paddle.
5. User Data & Processing
Formatif is a local-first application. All media files are processed locally on your hardware. We do not have access to your files. The app periodically connects to our servers solely to verify the status of your license key and device count.
6. Liability
The software is provided as is without warranty of any kind. I am not responsible for system issues, data loss, or damages resulting from the use or misuse of the app.
Open Source Exception
Formatif utilizes third-party libraries under the GNU Lesser General Public License. You are permitted to modify the LGPL-licensed libraries included with this software and reverse engineer the software solely for debugging such modifications.
License Revalidation
The app connects to our license server every 3 days from the last successful check to verify that your license key remains valid. If the server is unreachable for more than 3 consecutive days, the app will require a connection before it can start again. This is the only network communication the app performs; all media processing remains local.
